Bedroom Updates with Serena and Lily
Over the last year I’ve been working hard on our bedroom to create a design that works nicely with the shape of the room, but am being very intentional about the pieces I choose as I would like to have them for a long time. I’m making sure each piece is not only beautiful, but good quality as well. The newest addition to the space made my jaw drop when I took it out of the packaging. It’s the Cyprus Bone Inlay Floor mirror from Serena and Lily, and it makes such a big impact in the space! It’s taller than our previous mirror and reflects so much more light. It can also capture the reflection of our entire chandelier, making the whole room feel a bit more elevated.
The antique bone tiles and brass nailhead detail are so beautiful, photos don’t do them justice. I love the soft and subtle dimension it adds to the space while still giving me the calm, warm neutral look that I like to incorporate into all my designs. It’s a timeless piece that I know I’ll cherish for a long time.
Our new baby boy, Eoghan, took a liking to it as well and was having a lot of fun looking at himself in it after we put it up. These images turned out to be some of my favorite of him to date, and I’m so glad I was lucky enough to capture this moment on camera!
Our bedroom is feeling so close to complete with the addition of this beautiful mirror. I love that the tones tie in so nicely with our Blake Dresser, and it helps to evenly distribute the warm natural beige tones throughout the space to give us an even more cohesive and intentional feel in here.
I love using mirrors as wall decor since I’m more of a minimalist when it comes to artwork. It’s a nice way to reflect light in your space, and helps smaller spaces feel a lot bigger and more grand. It’s also a great way to allow other parts of the room to be more visible at all angles.
My general rule for whether or not to add a mirror into a space is to ask yourself if the reflection will be something you love and would like to see more of in the space. If the reflection is of an area you don’t love—skip it or move the mirror to another wall where the reflection is more desirable. I’m going to round up some of my favorite Serena and Lily mirrors below that would work nicely in any space!
I’m so happy to have checked another item off the list for our bedroom. This new piece has been making me smile every time I walk past it since we installed it.
