Stylish Pet Accessories

Mimi2.JPG

One thing I always keep my eyes peeled for is stylish pet accessories that are cohesive with the decor in our home. I want to make sure I have the things my pets want and need available for them, but it’s important to me that they don’t detract from the design in our home that I’ve spent many hours creating and implementing. I’ve found over the years that this is definitely possible, it just take a bit of time and research to find the right things to fit my pets needs and our home. It always makes me happy when I can find something that’s the perfect combination of form and function. I’ve recently come across a lot of great affordable finds, so I thought I’d save those of you who feel the same way some time and share them on the blog today!

Floral Arranging Tips

I recently ordered a few dried florals and floral supplies for fall, so today I’m sharing a few of the tricks I use to get my arrangements looking just the way I want them. I recently discovered Afloral, and am loving their selection of dried florals and accessories, and everything is very affordable! Most of what I used is from there, but I also really like Bloomist and Terrain.

My first tip is to use floral tape over the top of your vase. This is typically a good idea if your vase has a very wide mouth, or your stems tend to droop, since it gives you more control over how upright they stand, as well as the overall shape of your arrangement.

My second tip for wide mouth vases, compotes, or bowls, is to use floral netting. It’s another way make sure your stems don’t droop, but also keeps them from falling out of the vessel and gives you more control over the shape of the arrangement. It’s also much less time consuming than making the grid patten with the floral tape.

My third tip isn’t necessarily specific to the vessel, but just arranging in general. I always suggest making sure you vary the height of the stems so that your arrangement is less uniform and turns out looking more natural and whimsical. This also depends on the look you’re going for, but a lot of popular arrangements these days always have a lot of variance in the stems to keep things looking very casual and relaxed. If you’re not a fan of using floral tape or wire netting, I’d stick to using narrow mouth vases like the one below, so your arrangements still look nice and full with minimal effort.

Today I’m sharing a neutral fall bathroom design! I’ve been wanting to give our bathrooms a bit of an update for fall, and a few easy ways to do that when you have a very neutral space is to bring in some new textiles, artwork, and florals. I also included this vintage style designer dupe mirror that’s back in stock in the small and large sizes and under $120!
